The Nocturn Industries “Tanto” Ultralight Adaptable Night Vision Monocular (UANVM) is the cornerstone of Nocturn’s adaptable series of night vision devices.  It is ultra-lightweight, rugged, compact, and versatile. 

The “Tanto” is compatible with standard PVS-14 mounts and other accessories, but a unique feature of this monocular is its ability to be powered by a proprietary articulating bridge system called the TAB “Daisho” (Tanto Articulating Bridge).  This allows the user to easily pair two Tantos together to form a dual tube night vision unit at a moments notice.  The “Daisho” bridge allows both Tantos to be powered by a single battery, and features IP stops similar to the UANVB “Katana”.  It works equally well on its own as a standalone monocular as well. 

The UANVM “Tanto” is comprised of a simple, minimalist design.  A single push button on/off in the cap reduces weight and size as compared to a PVS-14, and automatic brightness control adjusts gain to the appropriate levels without user input.

Housing and Optics Information

The Nocturn UANVM “Tanto” is built using a ultra-durable polymer housing which exceeds MIL-STD-810G and IP-68 ingress and durability specifications.  Power is supplied by a single CR123A battery, which provides up to 40 hours of continuous use.  The “Tanto” housing is available in Matte Black, Coyote, and OD Green H-Series Cerakote finishes. 

High-quality Carson Mil-Spec objective lens and eyepiece optics are used standard and provide excellent image quality and light transmission.

Rochester Precision Optics (RPO) ultralight objective lenses and eyepieces are available as an upgraded option.  RPO optics are approximately 20% lighter weight than standard Mil-Spec optics without any sacrifice of image quality. 

All units are professionally assembled, nitrogen-purged, and thoroughly tested.

Image Intensifier Tube Information

This Nocturn UANVM “Tanto” is available with the following Image Intensifier Tube options:

All units are built using high-quality, meticulously-selected, brand-new image intensifier tubes.  All image intensifiers we use are “Grade-A”, meaning they have the most stringent spot (blemish) tolerances. 

L-3 Harris filmless tubes perform well in all conditions, but especially in rural or very dark environments.  Typically filmless tubes will have higher average performance specifications on their data sheets that comparable thin-film tubes, and produce an excellent image.

L-3 Harris SuperGain tubes are the most premium image intensifier tubes available today and will offer exceptional performance in all conditions.  Typical filmless tubes will have Luminance Gain (Gain) specifications of 40,000-80,000 fL/fc, but SuperGain tubes will see ratings of 100,000-120,000 fL/fc.  This increases the ability to collect and amplify light resulting in a brighter image and noticeable improvement of low light performance. 

All L-3 tubes we use are “UA” designated, which means they are “Aviation” grade and provide L-3’s most stringent spot tolerances.
