The Wave Tempest 650 LRF is a rugged, high-performance, compact thermal weapon sight with an integrated laser rangefinder engineered to deliver consistent performance under all conditions.  It features a sixth-generation 640 × 512, 12 µm, <15 mK NETD thermal sensor paired with an Ultra-Pure Germanium 50mm objective lens.  This sensor and lens combination is paired with a 1024 x 768 HD AMOLED display to deliver high-quality imaging along with a 3.0x base magnification.

A key feature of the Tempest LRF series is the integrated laser rangefinder (LRF), which provides fast and accurate distance measurement, and can operate in both Ballistic and Scan Modes. In Scan Mode, the laser operates continuously and updates distances multiple times per second. When in Ballistic Mode, the laser works with the onboard ballistic calculator to provide a real-time shooting solution at the same time as providing range data.

Built for rugged use, the Tempest 650 LRF features a compact, rugged, mil-spec aluminum housing designed for durability, heat dissipation, and long-term reliability. The compact housing is only eight inches in length which makes it ideal for AR-style weapons or where a smaller optic footprint is needed. The nitrogen-purged, IP67-rated construction ensures dependable performance in adverse weather and high-recoil applications of up to 6,000 Joules (.300 WM). Intuitive, ambidextrous joystick controls and a large top-mounted focus knob allow fast, precise operation and focus adjustment, even while wearing gloves.  The compact housing is only eight inches in length and makes it ideal for AR applications or where a smaller optic footprint is ideal.

Additional capabilities of the Tempest 650 LRF include a simplified one-screen zeroing process with freeze function, advanced reticle management with multiple reticles and focal plane options, automatic ballistic compensation via the integrated laser rangefinder, onboard photo and video recording with file management, Wi-Fi connectivity for WAVE IR iOS and Android app integration and firmware updates, Picture-in-Picture (PIP) mode, and support for multiple named weapon profiles with stored zero distances.  The Tempest 650 LRF comes complete with a quick-detach scope mount for secure attachment and repeatable zero.

Power is supplied by two non-proprietary protected 18650 rechargeable batteries, delivering exceptionally long runtime exceeding 13 hours per set. This dual-battery configuration provides reliable operation while allowing batteries to be swapped quickly when required. The Tempest 660D LRF also supports external power via USB-C for extended operating time when connected to an external power source.
