The AB Night Vision RNVG (Ruggedized Night Vision Goggle) is designed to be one of the most rugged and durable night vision binocular systems on the market. 

While most BNVD’s (Binocular Night Vision Devices) are built using polymer construction, the RNVG features a solid billet 7075 aluminum body for unsurpassed structural strength.  Additionally, the RNVG is a non-articulating housing which reduces potential failure points.

The RNVG is comprised of a simple, minimalist design, but without sacrificing features.  A simple rotary knob controls power on/off and IR illumination functions.  Automatic brightness control adjusts gain to the appropriate levels without user input and interpupillary adjustments allow the user to adjust IP distances to their preference.  A durable, aluminum dovetail provides secure attachment to the user’s helmet mount.

Housing and Optics Information

The AB Night Vision RNVG is constructed using precision CNC machined solid billet 7075 aluminum to create as strong of a chassis as possible.  This material is up to 36% stronger than common steel making the RNVG the most rugged BNVD in production.  The metal components of the housing are media blasted to give a non-reflective finish prior to being anodized black for additional durability.  Power is supplied by a single CR123A battery, which allows up to 20 hours of continuous use.  A supplemental “LEMO” port provides external power for even longer operating times.  

High-quality Carson Mil-Spec objective lens and eyepiece optics are used standard and provide excellent image quality and light transmission.

Rochester Precision Optics (RPO) ultralight objective lenses and eyepieces are available as an upgraded option.  RPO optics are approximately 20% lighter weight than standard Mil-Spec optics without any sacrifice of image quality. 

All units are professionally assembled, nitrogen-purged, and thoroughly tested.

Image Intensifier Tube Information

All units are built using high-quality, meticulously-selected, brand-new image intensifier tubes.  All image intensifiers we use are “Grade-A”, meaning they have the most stringent spot (blemish) tolerances. 

L-3 Harris filmless tubes perform well in all conditions, but especially in rural or very dark environments.  Typically filmless tubes will have higher average performance specifications on their data sheets that comparable thin-film tubes, and produce an excellent image.

L-3 Harris SuperGain tubes are the most premium image intensifier tubes available today and will offer exceptional performance in all conditions.  Typical filmless tubes will have Luminance Gain (Gain) specifications of 40,000-80,000 fL/fc, but SuperGain tubes will see ratings of 100,000-120,000 fL/fc.  This increases the ability to collect and amplify light resulting in a brighter image and noticeable improvement of low light performance. 

All L-3 tubes we use are “UA” designated, which means they are “Aviation” grade and provide L-3’s most stringent spot tolerances.
