The RIX Tactical RNV-31S is one of the most affordable dual-tube night vision binocular systems on the market, but without lacking on features or performance. It offers reliable Gen 2+ performance in a compact and ultralight weight design.
The dual articulating design of the RNV-31S allows users to operate the unit with either one or both eyes. This is useful when operating a thermal optic or other passive aiming device while maintaining night vision on one side only. This also allows the user to stow the pods comfortably against the helmet for a lower profile while in a vehicle or where head space may be limited. Individual pods are powered off when articulated to eliminate backspash and protect the image intensifier tubes.
The RNV-31S is comprised of a simple, minimalist design with similar controls and features to the 1431 and PVS-31 styles of BNVD's. A tactile control knob located on the front of the unit controls power on / off / illumination / gain functions.  Interpupillary adjustments allow the user to effortlessly set IP stop distances to their preferences, and a durable aluminum dovetail provides secure attachment to the userâs helmet mount.
The RNV-31S differs from the RNV-31 with addition of âMil-Specâ optics for improved image quality, suitability for use with a variety of image intensifier tubes (MX10160, 11769, etc.), compatibility with CR123A and AA battery sources, and upgraded housing materials for more demanding applications.
Housing and Optics Information
The RNV-31S is constructed of ultralight, yet high-strength reinforced polymer material. Power is supplied by a single AA battery or CR123As and provides up to 25 hours of continuous use per battery. A supplemental power port will allow for even longer operating times.
Image Intensifier Tube Information
The RIX Tactical RNV-31S is available with the following image intensifier tube options:
- NNVT Super Gen 2 Low Light Green Phosphor (1400-1600 FOM)
- NNVT Super Gen 2 Low Light White Phosphor (1800-2000 FOM)
Image intensifier tubes are meticulously selected for a clean image and minimum performance specifications of 1400-2000 FOM, 22 SNR, and 64 resolution.
