The DJI Matrice 4TD is a rugged, enterprise-grade thermal drone designed to deliver advanced multi-sensor imaging, long flight endurance, and reliable performance in wet, dusty, and otherwise harsh operating environments. Built on DJI’s Matrice 4D airframe, the Matrice 4TD integrates thermal imaging, high-resolution visual cameras, laser rangefinding, and enhanced obstacle sensing to support mission-critical applications including search and rescue, public safety, infrastructure inspection, and industrial monitoring. DSLRPros specifically describes the aircraft as an IP55-rated platform designed for operations where weather, terrain, and signal continuity cannot be compromised.

The Matrice 4TD features a 640 × 512 radiometric thermal camera capable of high-resolution thermal imaging with enhanced infrared processing. The system supports advanced thermal analysis including temperature measurement and high-resolution infrared imaging modes.

Complementing the thermal sensor is a triple-camera visual system consisting of a wide-angle camera along with medium-tele and telephoto zoom cameras. These sensors enable detailed inspection at varying distances, allowing operators to capture high-resolution imagery, read instruments, or identify targets from long range while maintaining safe standoff distance.

A built-in laser rangefinder capable of measuring distances up to approximately 1,800 meters provides precise distance measurement and improved situational awareness during aerial operations.

The aircraft provides up to approximately 47 minutes of maximum hover time and features omnidirectional obstacle sensing enhanced by rotating LiDAR and millimeter-wave radar technology for improved navigation around power lines and complex structures. DSLRPros also highlights the drone’s ability to detect 12 mm wires at speeds up to 15 m/s, making it particularly well suited for utility and infrastructure work.

The Matrice 4TD also includes advanced night-operation capabilities including NIR auxiliary illumination and enhanced low-light imaging, enabling reliable operation in extremely low-light environments. Its 80° upward gimbal tilt also improves inspection capability for bridge undersides, overhead structures, and other hard-to-view angles.

This configuration includes the DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise Enhanced remote controller, which provides a large high-brightness display, improved connectivity, and IP54 durability for operation in adverse weather alongside the aircraft. The Matrice 4TD itself is rated IP55, allowing continued operation in rain, fog, and dusty conditions, though it is not waterproof for submersion.
