James grew up on his family’s farm near Richmond, Virginia, where he learned the ropes of farm life and developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He began hunting and fishing at an early age, starting with largemouth bass and whitetail deer on the family property. By sixteen, he discovered duck hunting, which became his passion for many years.
In June 2010, James married his wife, Talia, and together they built a family with five children. As his responsibilities grew—both at home and in his role as a manager for one of the largest subsurface utility engineering companies in the industry—his opportunities to hunt during the day became limited.
Looking for a way to stay connected to the outdoors without sacrificing family time, James turned to predator hunting. Because it could be done at night, and it quickly became an ideal fit and soon evolved into a full-blown obsession. He started hunting foxes and coyotes with an AR-15 chambered in 5.56 with lights, but later upgraded to night-vision optics and a thermal monocular.
Today, James hunts with a custom AR-15 chambered in .22 ARC equipped with an InfiRay thermal optic and an AGM thermal monocular. He enjoys calling predators using the FoxPro X24 and MFK diaphragm calls and has spent countless hours honing his craft. Sharing that knowledge with others is something he genuinely enjoys.
I’m proud to be part of the Night Vision Outfitters team and to help customers choose gear they can trust when it matters most.
