The Teledyne FLIR SIRAS “Secure InfraRed Aerial System” provides professional UAS users with a powerful, yet affordable drone solution where cyber-security and manufacturer country of origin is a concern. The SIRAS is also backed by USA-based support through Teledyne FLIR, one of the largest manufacturers of thermal optics and military equipment in the world.
The FLIR SIRAS is not subject to restrictive controls, such as geofencing, “No-Fly Zones”, or forced updates that prevent takeoff. Operators are responsible for their own compliance with regulations and airspace restrictions, without the need for special unlocking or permissions from the manufacturer. It can be rapidly deployed from the case to the air in less than two minutes, and can redeploy quickly with “hot-swappable” batteries. Additionally, in the event of a battery failure, the SIRAS can return to home on a single battery. The SIRAS features a forward and bottom radar system for collision avoidance and landing assistance, to further improve operational safety.
The SIRAS was designed with security in mind, first and foremost. No online account is required for flight, all data is safely stored on the SD card, and it does not connect to the Internet, WiFi, or Cellular. All data remains with the user, and updates are performed only by download to an SD card from FLIR support. The SIRAS is compliant with all FAA Remote ID requirements.
This unit provides long flight times of up to 31 minutes and transmission distance of up to 6 miles making it an extremely capable platform for any required operation. This unit is ideal for law enforcement, firefighting, industrial inspection, search and rescue, feral hog or predator control applications, and wildlife surveys. Additionally, it can withstand flight in high winds up to 22 mph and all weather conditions, making it a versatile option for operating in the most challenging flight conditions. A dual battery system ensures redundancy and flight safety, as well as allows for “hot-swapping” of batteries to quickly return to the air.
The FLIR SIRAS currently provides two quick-detach payload options, with more currently in development. The Vue TV128 payload features a 128x zoom 16MP visible camera and a 5x-zoom 640 x 512 radiometric FLIR Boson thermal camera, which provides temperature measurement. The Vue 128+ payload also features a 128x, 16MP visible camera and is paired with a 5x-zoom 640 x 512 non-radiometric FLIR Boson+ core, which provides industry leading thermal sensitivity for greatly increased contrast and clarity. Both Vue payloads include FLIR’s patented MSX technology to further improve thermal imagery and improve situational awareness. MSX provides visibility of text on signs, chemical markers, edges of objects, human shadows, etc., all viewable in the thermal spectrum. It features multiple color pallets, multiple temperature measurement modes, temperature alarm with isotherm selection, and advanced image enhancement with real-time control over brightness, detail, and contrast.
The SIRAS is paired with the Teledyne FLIR smart controller (GCS) and provides exceptional detail using a high-brightness, high-definition screen, which is visible in direct sunlight. The controller features an HDMI port, which allows output to an Android device to run Drone Sense, and other software systems to stream to command center. This system is compatible with AirData UAV and DroneLogbook software as well.
The FLIR SIRAS kit includes the aircraft, TV128 or TV128+ payload, controller, two batteries (four optional), propellors, charging components, and carry case.
