The RIX STORM S2R is a compact thermal riflescope designed to deliver dependable thermal performance along with an onboard laser rangefinder in a lightweight and affordable package. Built around a 256×192 thermal sensor and paired with a 25mm germanium objective lens, the STORM S2R is ideal for hunters needing a lightweight, compact, affordable thermal optic.
At the core of the system is a 12μm thermal sensor with <25 mK NETD sensitivity, allowing the STORM S2R to produce clean thermal imagery with strong contrast. Combined with RIX RET image enhancement technology, the system delivers improved image detail, enhanced contrast, and reduced image noise for a clearer viewing experience.
With a 25mm F/1.0 germanium objective lens and base magnification of 3.5x, the STORM S2R delivers short to medium-range performance while maintaining a usable field of view. The compact optical system is paired with a 1024×768 AMOLED display to provide a sharp and comfortable viewing experience during prolonged use.
A major advantage of the STORM series is its extremely compact and lightweight housing design. Weighing under one pound, the STORM S2R is comfortable for handheld scanning while remaining capable as a dedicated thermal riflescope. The enlarged four-direction button layout is optimized for fast operation, including use with gloves, while direct UI-to-button mapping simplifies navigation.
An integrated laser rangefinder provides accurate distance measurements out to 1,312 yards while the onboard ballistic calculator assists with shot placement at extended distances. Additional features include recoil-activated video recording, onboard photo and video capture, multiple reticle options, multiple color palettes, WiFi app connectivity, and adjustable picture-in-picture magnification functionality.
The STORM S2R utilizes a removable, non-proprietary 18650 rechargeable battery system, providing up to five hours of operating time. The quick detach battery cap design allows users to quickly swap batteries while hunting. The unit also supports USB-C external power input for extended operation.
The STORM S2R features IP67 rated environmental protection along with 1000g / 6000 joules recoil resistance, making it suitable for demanding hunting conditions and high-recoil rifle applications up to .300 WM or comparable.
